Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity that takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving:

  • When: Every year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, December 3rd this year

  • What: A day to inspire generosity through donations, volunteering, and acts of kindness

  • How: People can give time, money, food, blood, compliments, or support their favorite charities

  • Why: To shift the focus from holiday consumerism to meaningful acts of giving

Giving Tuesday was established in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation. It has since grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Some ways that people celebrate Giving Tuesday include: Donating money, Volunteering, Performing acts of kindness, Supporting favorite charities, and Encouraging charities and performing random acts of kindness.

In a world where there is so much pain and suffering, Giving Tuesday is a day we can help those who might be hurting or help someone just because.
