Good Neighbors RIC

swendler1

Hello CtK & Friends, I find remembering our confirmation promises we made to continue in the covenant God made with us in our baptisms helpful in these recent days:

to live among God’s faithful people, to hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper,

to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, to serve all people, following the example of Jesus,  and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth?

You may want to respond with these words: I will, and I ask God to help and guide me!

Today and every day we continue to live out these promises faithfully! But how do we do that? Just like how we have in the past.

CtK, remember we are a congregation that has cared for and resettled multiple refugees seeking relief from violence, death, human rights violations, and freedom. In return they and we have received God’s love and have seen it come to life. Partnering with World Relief in the past ten-ish years we have formed two Good Neighbor Teams. God’s love has flowed through our partnerships and care for our Afghanistan neighbors. Because government funding has been halted to resettle refugees, the need for World Relief is even more necessary.

Additionally, as a Reconciling in Christ congregation it is important that we continue to value the dignity and worth of our siblings in the LGBTQIA+ community and reject any teaching of legislation that would deny their human existence as non-binary and standing under the law. To our siblings in Christ in the LGBTQIA+ community you are valued, you are loved, and you are welcome at CtK!

As we try to stay up with the news and executive orders it can be dizzying and hard to manage what it all means. We especially need to remember those who are directly impacted and what it means to have security for the future. We pray for the most vulnerable: immigrants, refugees, LGBTQIA+ persons, the aged, ill, and persons with disabilities who look for answers. Let us take time to care for, understand the concerns, pray for, and help one another.

I want share a link of messages from our Bishop and the Region 5 Bishops of WI & Upper Michigan and other resources from our Churchwide Bishop Elizabeth Eaton.

Scroll down the resources page, read, and let us together bring God’s love to life.

Pastor Nate
