Last Wednesday evening (2.19) as we got ready for Christ Ed and Confirmation we noticed the WiFi wasn't working - that means no connection to our network or WiFi for guests and staff, no ability to print, and no way to broadcast worship on Sunday (2.23). We unplugged the router and modem but that did not reset and fix the issue. Then we had Spectrum in on Thursday. They tested their equip and said everything is fine until it gets to the firewall box and the 24 switch box. Friday was Heartland's turn and they determined the firewall box had failed and was “at the end of life.”
We were quoted $1,500-$2,000 commercial grade component + labor to resolve the issue. I said, “That was not a possible solution, we'll have to find another way.” An expense like this is not something we can absorb. After some conversation we found a work around to temporarily make the WiFi work for the weekend worship broadcast and for staff to connect to the WiFi for ministry purposes. Due to the temporary fix you may have noticed the sound was not the best for our online users due to some technical issues needing to be resolved. Brent S, CtK AV Production, spent a good portion of Friday afternoon troubleshooting and helping the tech figure out the communication with the AV desk area. Currently, we do not have capability to connect to the photocopier for printing or scanning purposes, nor do we have full use of the boom mics, and minimal firewall protection.
After some conversations, we had a CtK partner share that they would donate the firewall box and another person willing to donate the labor to complete this project. I am grateful for this gift of faith and generous donation that are above and beyond the normal giving. We are coming up on one of the busiest seasons of the church year – Lent. It will be important to be at full working capacity to serve you. If you saw the snapshot of our financials this past month you will notice that financially we are lagging in our necessary expenditures for faith formation, mortgage, and day-to-day ministry needs. The ministry of CtK relies on you and every household’s faithful financial gifts. If you would like to set up automatic withdrawal, need envelops, or want to begin with financial support, please see our website https://www.christ-the-king.org/give or contact Aubrey, CtK Financial Manager or myself for help. Collectively, let us give thanks and support to the ministry that impacts lives with God’s love coming to life.
Christ’s Transfiguring Blessings & Peace,
Pastor Nate
